The Patriots dodged a bullet last night, as director of player personal Nick Caserio decided not to take the GM position down in Miami. Caserio completed two interviews with the team, which was a little concerning for everybody in Foxboro. But the Dolphins ended up hiring Dennis Hickey, the former director of player personal in Tampa Bay.

Doug Kyed of NESN.com reported that Caserio also intends to tell the Patriots what the Dolphins want to do this offseason. This is a shrewd move by Belichick and company, but one that is extremely smart as well. The Dolphins are division rivals, and it is important for the Patriots to do what they can, to stay ahead of Miami.

The 2014 offseason has been one filled with coaching changes for the Patriots, as three different assistants have left, in the week following their loss to the Broncos in the AFC Championship. Pepper Johnson, Dante Scarnecchia, and George Godsey all moved on, giving coach Bill Belichick a couple of big challenges heading into next season.
