The final week of the 2013 regular season is nearly upon us, and while it took awhile, the AFC playoff picture is almost complete. The only remaining open spot is the sixth seed, and four teams will be fighting for that last spot (SD, MIA, PIT, BAL). The Patriots, Broncos, Bengals, and Colts will also be jockeying for playoff positioning, although they are just fighting for the right to either play at home, or take the first week of the playoffs off. Here are the current playoff standings.
1. Denver Broncos (12-3)
2. New England Patriots (11-4)
3. Cincinnati Bengals (10-5)
4. Indianapolis Colts (10-5)
5. Kansas City Chiefs (11-4)
6. Miami Dolphins (8-7)
7. Baltimore Ravens (8-7)
8. San Diego Chargers (8-7)
9. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-8)
Denver Broncos- Clinch one seed with win, or New England loss.
New England Patriots- Clinch two seed with win, or losses by both the Bengals, and the Colts. They can clinch the one seed with a win and a Denver loss.
Cincinnati Bengals- Clinch two seed with win and a Patriots loss.
Indianapolis Colts- Clinch two seed with win, and losses by the Bengals and the Patriots.
Miami Dolphins- Win plus a Ravens loss, or a win and a Chargers loss.
Baltimore Ravens- Win and a Dolphins loss, or win and a Chargers loss. They also get in if the Steelers, Dolphins, and Chargers all lose.
San Diego Chargers- Win plus a Ravens and Dolphins loss.
Pittsburgh Steelers- Win plus a Dolphins, Ravens, and Chargers loss.
I know what you’re thinking, why is it this simple?
