With Christmas on the horizon, the New England Patriots switched up their practice schedule this week, making today an unusual practice day. Safety Devin McCourty, and wide receiver Josh Boyce were the only two players missing from practice, as both of them recover from injuries that they have sustained. McCourty injured his head in the third quarter of Sunay’s game against the Ravens, and it is feared by the team that he has suffered a concussion. If McCourty has to sit out this week’s game versus Buffalo to get healthy, I think it is definitely worth it, to ensure that he is healthy for the playoffs. McCourty is one of the most important players on the Patriots roster, especially with defensive leaders like Jerod Mayo, and Vince Wilfork, done for the year.
In positive news, running back Shane Vereen was at practice after he injured his groin early in New England’s win over Baltimore. Vereen’s health is vital to the Patriots offense being effective come playoff time, so it is nice to hear that he was back out on the field, with the team. Even though this week’s contest is important to the Patriots chance of getting the two seed, I would sit all players that are currently nursing an injury, as having them ready for the playoffs is much more important than winning this game against the Bills.
