As you may have been able to tell, this week is all about how the Patriots are going to cope without Rob Gronkowski. There are a number of ideas for how best to keep up the offensive production without the tight end, and we’ll touch on a few of them here, as well as some other Patriots news and views.
Erik Frenz at Bleacher Report is first up on the ‘how to replace Gronk’ wheel of fortune, and he is looking at who in the Patriots organisation will be responsible for scheming around and filling the Gronk-sized hole in the team. He’s also got a piece up at Boston.com looking at the post-Gronk Patriots, plus Jamie Collins showing up against the Browns.
PatsPulpit has gone big on coping without Gronkowski, while Coach Belichick has been pointing out that he has been missing for the Patriots much longer than he has been active during this NFL year, and one of the potential replacements at tight end, DJ Williams, is just trying to get laid, and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has been discussing getting production from the other offensive players.
In non-Gronk Patriots news, defensive coordinator Matt Patricia has been discussing the play of Aqib Talib, Aaron Dobson has started to turn some heads over at MassLive and the team has worked out CFL defensive end Cordarro Law.
Looking slightly further into the future, Bleacher Report has a list of upcoming free agents and draft prospects who could fill positions of need for the Patriots this offseason, while Sean Keane looks at whether or not Stevan Ridley has worn out his welcome in New England.
