The Patriot Way – New England Patriots News 12/7

Welcome to the weekend. To ease everyone in, we’ve got a round up of all the best Patriots analysis, news and views. Let’s get started.

Ahead of the Patriots-Browns game tomorrow, there are a couple of interesting pieces about the production of the Patriots offence, and what they need to do to beat the Browns. First up, over at Bleacher Report Erik Frenz has been comparing the productivity of last year’s offence compared to this season, and how the new talent has affected offensive output.

Rant Sports have been looking at the five players who will need to step up against the Browns, while on a similar track, ESPN Boston have given their keys to the game - they’ve also got an interesting piece on the Patriots offensive tendencies. Then there is the BR gameplan, just to round out the set.

Switching to more player-focused pieces, stopping Josh Gordon is one of the main objectives for the Patriots defence. The wide receiver has also been letting his mouth add some extra buildup to the game, promising to make plays against Aqib Talib.

Since we’re moving towards the end of the regular season, there are also some folks looking at the impending free agents on the Patriots roster. Today’s players in the spotlight are Brandon Spikes – who Mike Dussault says the Patriots should re-sign - and Julian Edelman, who might have made himself a good case for a big contract next year. There’s also a nice piece on DE Michael Buchanan at ESPN.

Brandon Spikes will be looking for a big payday as a FA. The Pats will not pay big bucks for a one dimensional LB……while he is one of the best against the run, he is a liability in coverage (consistently getting beat). Pats will only pay big money for a three down LB…..I think they will let him walk.
