New England Patriots vs. Houston Texans Inactives: Ridley, Dennard Out

We are drawing near to kickoff in Houston, where the 8-3 New England Patriots are set to square off with the 2-9 Houston Texans. The inactive lists for each team have been released, and while most of it is what we were expecting, there is one huge surprise on the Patriots side.

Stevan Ridley, the talented young running back, has been declared inactive by the team. Ridley has been dealing with some fumbling problems, by fumbling in three straight games. He is a talented back, but evidently the Patriots feel that he isn’t quite ready to be thrust into game action. I personally feel that New England needs Ridley in there to perform to the top of their abilities, but obviously they can’t give him a lot of carries, if he keeps giving the football away.

Other inactives include cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, wide receiver Aaron Dobson, tight end Michael Hoomanawanui, and offensive lineman Marcus Cannon. All of these guys are important to the Patriots formula to success, but getting them healthy for the playoffs is more important.

Steve Gregory has missed the last few weeks with a thumb injury, but he is active today, giving a beat up New England secondary some needed reinforcements.
