After a rough loss last week to the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets had a tough rebound game today in Baltimore against the defending Super Bowl Champions. The Jets were unable to muster any offense as they dropped this game to the Ravens 19-3. Jets kicker Nick Folk opened the game’s scoring with a 27-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Ravens were unable to generate much offense either as they had to kick four field goals before finally scoring a touchdown late in the third quarter. The touchdown came from a 66 yard bomb by Joe Flacco to Jacoby Jones.
The Jets were only able to convert one of their 12 third downs today and were 0/1 in the red zone. Geno Smith finished the day 9/22 with 127 yards, 2 picks and a fumble. He also caught a pass thrown by Josh Cribbs for 13 yards. The Ravens had lost four of their last five games before topping the Jets today, and keep their playoff hopes alive as they are one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers out of a Wild Card spot. The Jets are now 5-6 and still very much in the hunt for a Wild Card spot, although they cannot keep up this poor level of play if they want to stay alive. They are 1-5 on the road, but take on the division-rival Miami Dolphins in New York next Sunday. Miami is also 5-6, so this game is critical for both clubs.
