So has everyone recovered yet? To help recovery from last night’s defeat, or so that you can get just as annoyed by it all over again this morning, here’s our look at the latest New England Patriots buzz.
We start at NFL.com, who are calling last night the ‘game of the year‘, though it will only be remembered for the late-game officiating. Speaking of those officials, ESPN Boston has published the pool report with the referee, Clete Blakeman explaining the decision making process (speaking as an EPL fan, getting officials to explain their calls, even if you think it was a stupid call in the first place, is a seriously good thing). Rant Sports are pretty sure the Patriots ‘got hosed‘ by the decision to pick up the flag.
Moving away from the officiating, Rant Sports are looking at how Stevan Ridley’s fumbling is becoming a problem, especially sine he is also the team’s best running back – Boston.com have his stock falling, but the returning Shane Vereen impressed.
They’ve also been taking a look at the Patriots defence. With the number of key injuries on that side of the ball, we all knew there would be a time when they would have problems stopping opposing offences, and last night, the defence broke.
Bleacher Report, however, are looking at the offence. When phrases such as “struggling to maintain identity” are cropping up, things aren’t going swimmingly. Getting everyone healthy and on the field at the same time is vital, and hasn’t been happening so far.
On the up side though, the Patriots are still viewed as being Super Bowl contenders. Which is a nice point on which to end.
