The Patriot Way: New England Patriots News 10/1

Patriot Nation has great cause for concern as the dominant defensive leader, Vince Wilfork, is lost for the season early in the Atlanta game after tearing his right Achilles tendon.  Obviously, a very tough situation for Vince personally.  This is very, very unfortunate for the team because this Patriot defense has a ton of young talent at all three levels of the defense, and you kind of just got that feeling that something special could be in store for this unit.  Ok, reality check… It is what it is, and in every tragedy there is an equal or greater opportunity.  Bill Belichick will seek out the up side of this seeming disaster.  A similar tragedy gave birth to Tom Brady.  I don’t think any one player can emerge to fill Vince’s shoes.  He is arguably the best in the game at what he does.  However, with the versatility and athleticism of this defense, and with Bill Belichick’s creativity, I expect the unit to remain competitive and eventually improve into a play off caliber defense.  Vince, I speak for all Patriot fans when I say be well, we love you, and we look forward to seeing you cheering on and coaching up your teammates as the season progresses.

Go nuke your coffee, time to get caught up on The Patriot Way.
