The Patriots released their first injury report for Sunday’s game against the Bucs today, and in typical New England fashion, there were no surprises on the report.
The two biggest names on this list were tight end Rob Gronkowski, and wide receiver Danny Amendola. Gronk is listed as ‘questionable’, which means he has a 50-50 shot at playing. This falls in line with what the Patriots have been saying all week, and while in my mind I think he should be held out of this one, he has a chance of making his 2013 debut this Sunday. As for Amendola, he is still recovering from a groin injury that he suffered in the preseason and then re-aggravated in week one against the Bills. All reports that came out of Foxboro this week reported that Amendola looked hobbled, and a good while away from returning to the field. His ‘doubtful’ tag nearly ensures that he will not face the Bucs, and Pats fans will have to wait at least another week before he makes his return.
There are five other players listed as questionable on the injury report, this includes Brandon Bolden, Dan Connolly, Nate Ebner, Leon Washington and Will Svitek. Matthew Slater is obviously out, as he suffered a broken bone in his hand earlier this week, and is expected to miss an additional 3-5 weeks from the injury. Rookie tight end Zach Sudfeld is probable.
