It sounds like Detroit Lions dynamic defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is quite the fan of New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady, and he’ll likely have a few snaps against Brady on the opposite side of the field for Week 3 of the preseason on Thursday. Suh has one career sack on Brady, and it looks like he wants a chance for another one in a preseason game. That said, Suh certainly respects Tom Brady, and he even said it himself.
Per the Detroit Free Press, “I’ve been fortunate enough to come across his path many times on the field and off the field,” Suh said Sunday. “He’s a good dude. I like him.
“He’s a real tough competitor. Just a classy dude all around. I respect him. Any time you can take a future Hall of Famer down, it’s always some fun.”
I’m going to be interested in seeing how the Patriots interior fares out blocking Suh, and it will be interesting to see who plays at right guard in the effort to block Suh. Ryan Wendell struggled against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday, but he is one of the best centers in the league due to his terrific run defense. He made strides in pass protection as the year went on, but his weakness is pass blocking. He won’t get many snaps against Suh, but I want to see how he does as a pass blocker against Suh and the other extremely talented interior pass rushers that the Lions have to offer. We’ll see if they can avoid Suh getting another shot at a quarterback he very much respects (as he should).
