The New England Patriots had a surprise absence during yesterday’s training camp practice, as second-round rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson was not seen on the practice field. It didn’t seem like Dobson suffered from an injury, and, if he did, the injury would have to be a minor one. Dobson, to this point, has had an exceptional training camp, and he looks ready to fill out the Patriots “X” receiver role in 2013.
ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss writes this about a potential injury to Aaron Dobson, “Our best guess? Dobson tweaked something in Monday night’s in-stadium practice, as those watching him closely recalled that he fell at one point and might have been shaken up. Others have said he was cleated and could return as soon as Thursday.”
The injury clearly seems to be a very minor one, but it is better to be cautious and give a key wide receiver a day off.
Running back Brandon Bolden did a nice job to start training camp, and the gap between him and No. 5 running back LeGarrette Blount widened as a result of Bolden’s solid play and Blount’s unimpressive play. But Bolden missed Monday’s practice for unknown reasons, and he was also absent during yesterday’s practice. That opens up the door a bit more for Blount to get some momentum back, but Blount hasn’t done anything of that sort through both of Bolden’s absences. It will be interesting to see what is ailing Bolden right now, and we can only hope that it is nothing serious.
