The reports regarding a potential arrest warrant for New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez continue to fly, as it was CBS Boston who reported this morning that an arrested warrant would be issued for Hernandez. However, the Boston Globe’s Wesley Lowery recently tweeted that the reports of an arrest warrant having been issued are false, citing a source. Lowery also tweeted that if an arrest warrant was indeed issued, then Aaron Hernandez would have been arrested already. However, that did not rule out the prospect of an arrest warrant being issued in the near future, and that is the scenario that ABC is reporting.
Per ABC, Massachusetts State police are “expected” to issue an arrest warrant today for Aaron Hernandez for obstruction of justice, and this seems to back up both CBS Boston and Lowery. It states that an arrest warrant is expected to happen, which falls somewhat in line with what CBS Boston says, and it also falls in line with Lowery’s report that an arrest warrant for Hernandez has not been issued yet.
As expected, this obstruction of justice charge is for Hernandez acting like a guilty man and destroying his cell phone and video surveillance footage- two things that could be viewed as crucial pieces of evidence in the investigation. We’ll likely be hearing more about this soon, and I wonder if somebody else comes out and refutes this report from ABC.
