New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is innocent until proven guilty, so some people should avoid jumping to conclusions and jumping the gun on knee-jerk reactionary statements regarding the Patriots star TE. However, recent developments make what looked like a “wrong place, wrong time” issue for Hernandez an issue that is pressing and filled with information that makes Hernandez’s outlook cast more into doubt.
Hernandez’s girlfriend’s sister dated the victim Odin Lloyd, who is a semi-pro football player in Boston. The body was found within a mile of his house, and the all-important rental car was rented in Hernandez’s name. The big question is, why rent a car in your own town and when does that ever amount to any good business?
According to ESPN Boston, investigators are ready to execute a search warrant on the Enterprise rental car, and it sounds like we could be headed to more clues in the search to get to the bottom of what happened. Hernandez has now been cooperating with investigators, and it will be interesting to see what this rental car search turns up. This could lead to a big break in the investigation if significant evidence is found in that car, and it could lead us back away from Hernandez or further point towards Hernandez being a potential accomplice or even the killer. I still doubt Hernandez did this, with one of the main reasons being the amount of stupidity involved in a stunt like this, especially from the perspective of a rich, well-known NFL player.
