Newly minted New England Patriots slot receiver Danny Amendola has received high praise from across the board, and Tom Brady once again delivered praise on Amendola. He’s been lauded by the beat writers for his performances at OTAs, and he’s been lauded by his teammates for his work ethic during OTAs. Amendola is somebody I concerned to be a tough guy and hard-worker while with the St. Louis Rams, and there is little doubt he has shown those qualities with the Patriots thus far. I mean, he did get an early head start on working with Tom Brady by working out with him and Terrell Owens at USC.
Brady took the time to praise Amendola at the Best Buddies game at Harvard, via ESPN Boston, “He comes in and works really hard. He wants to do everything right, and he’s very competitive. It’s been a lot of fun.”
Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, and former teammate Dan Koppen were other notable players to attend. In fact, Koppen picked off Brady’s pass that was intended for Wilfork, and that alone tells you just how offbeat the game must have been. It sounds like Brady and everyone involved had a great time, and that’s not even mentioning the fact that it is all for a great cause.
Brady also answered questions about Rob Gronkowski‘s injury and continued to speak about his friendship with Wes Welker. His most interesting comments yesterday dealt with his thoughts about the change at the wide receiver position, which is the biggest storyline on the Patriots roster heading into the 2013 season, in my opinion; it’s also an issue that can get overplayed a little. However, there is no doubting that the Patriots experienced plenty of turnover at the wide receiver position, but Pats fans definitely aren’t freaking out about the Pats passing offense.
