What? A preview of the 2014 NFL Draft already? That’s correct! I’m here to give you a preview of the names you need to keep an eye on and will the Patriots have a lot of picks next season or not? The 2013 NFL Draft just ended as all of you know, and some of these NFL Draft experts rated the Patriots draft very poorly. This is a bit odd, as they made some very solid picks. Last season was a very solid draft for the Patriots and I believe that will be the same again. This year though, I hope either Dobson or Boyce prove some of the naysayers wrong. This team is lacking good young WR’s and they can’t keep failing on developing young receivers. It’ll be a few years before we see if they are decent or not, but they’ll need to show some promise this season.

Some names to keep an eye out for next season? Obviously, Jadeveon Clowney is a name you should all know by now. He’s obviously going to be a top 2 pick. There is no question, this upcoming draft won’t be full of lineman in the top 5 again as some players in the top 5 will be Teddy Bridgewater, Marquise Lee, and Sammy Watkins. This draft was a bit disappointing to some, but it was very deep which teams love. The New England Patriots currently have 7 draft picks and they have 1 pick in each round. One thing for sure though, is that the New England Patriots will draft either a corner or wide receiver in the first round unless they trade out again.

My prediction/want? At the moment, I’d like to see them draft CB Justin Gilbert out of Oklahoma State University. I love Gilbert’s game and improving the secondary every year needs to be a big concern until they get better. This defense wasn’t as bad as people think it is but it still isn’t where it needs to be. Gilbert has the size and speed to make it as a NFL corner, there is a small problem though. I’m not sure if the Patriots would draft him as he doesn’t play for Rutgers..
