2013 NFL Draft Patriots Select Logan Ryan

The 2013 NFL Draft continues and the New England Patriots are just beginning to have a blast. Patriots fans are very excited and hopeful for this upcoming season as Bill Belichick continues to spoil us more than ever (although Pats fan deserve every bit of it). With the 83rd pick from the Minnesota Vikings, the New England Patriots selected Rudgers product cornerback Logan Ryan.

Bill Belichick is known for showing interest in Florida State, Miami and Rudgers products. At 5’11”, 191 lbs Ryan is a great size for a corner with great hands and ball skill, athleticism is extremely physical and active across the field. He will do great in the Patriots as his character is a one-of-a-kind and discipline and team-player mentality should not be an issue. Big plus is that he is experienced with both man and zone coverage, in addition to playing smart and taking care of the ball. Ryan still a raw player and he will need good coaching in avoiding penalties due to not turning his had to find the ball.

In 2012 Ryan recorded 94 tackles, 5 for loss, 17 pass breakups and four interceptions in 13 games. The Patriots appreciate a player with physicality and versatility, and if a cornerback shows tackling ability that explains one of the reasons why Belichick drafted him. His addition should be a relief in a now more complete squad of cornerbacks.
