It was announced yesterday that the Buffalo Bills worked out Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver and quarterback duo Justin Hunter and Tyler Bray, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bills are also holding a workout with former Syracuse Orange star QB Ryan Nassib today.
The Bills are almost always linked to Nassib because of the connection between former ‘Cuse coach and current Bills head man Doug Marrone and Nassib from their very recent days with the Orange. The university is also located extremely close to the Bills headquarters, and I’m pretty sure Nassib’s visit doesn’t count against the Bills 30 due to him being a local product.
Nassib would be a great fit for the Bills intermediate passing game, and he seems like somebody who can fit the West Coast Offense (Matt Barkley is a much better fit there). I just have a feeling that the Bills are moving towards the WCO, because they have worked out Barkley and did sign Kevin Kolb. GM Buddy Nix also pressed hard for the re-signing of backup Tarvaris Jackson.
The Bills could draft Nassib in the first round, but using a top ten pick on Nassib is a reach when they can get him in the second round. But if Marrone and the Bills really do like him that much and think he is their man, then they shouldn’t risk even the chance of losing out on him- but that’s only if they are 100% sure. I just can’t shake the feeling that Barkley is their best option if they are going the WCO route, because he has excellent intangibles and pinpoint accuracy on short and intermediate throws.
