New England Patriots: Welker and Patriots Not Close on a Deal

This news that Wes Welker and the New England Patriots haven’t gotten a deal today isn’t very encouraging news at all.Rumors are going around that they may actually be done talking, for the day. This isn’t good news at all for the Patriots, due to the fact that Wes Welker is now in the open market and can talk to whomever he wants. If he gets the money he wants, it’s not so much a for sure thing that he’s back with the Patriots anymore as we originally thought.

While the Patriots owner Robert Kraft said yesterday he loved Welker and hoped Welker “remains a Patriot for life, just like Tom Brady,” that’s not close to happening at the moment. Which, can be a little scary for most Patriots fans. There is no need to panic just yet, since it’s getting late and their talks will resume tomorrow morning. But, if indeed we find out that talks between Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman are increasing then you can pretty much assume they could be moving on from Wes Welker.

If the Patriots do move on, you’ll definitely see them draft a Wide Receiver in the draft and possibly start right away and they will move their focus to Aqib Talib and any other defensive players that they’re interested in.
