Tom Brady, Rob Ninkovich, and Dont’a Hightower are all missing for the New England Patriots in their first practice of the week, and it is no surprise to see Ninkovich out. The Pats starting defensive end injured his hip in the second quarter of the victory against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17, and it looked like it could have costed him the postseason. However, he is expected to be back in time for the divisional round on the 13th. For now, he probably won’t be practicing this week.
Brady got a little well-deserved rest last week, and it’s more of the same for the Patriots MVP candidate this week. He’ll be getting some well-earned rest to start the week of practice, and it will be interesting to see if the Patriots give him some more days off.
Dont’a Hightower’s absence is the only one that comes as any sort of a surprise, but he has been placed on the injury report as questionable for the past few weeks now. He has dealt with mostly hamstring issues and a shoulder issue this season, but the rookie is healthy and will almost certainly be good to go on the 13th.
This practice is being held outdoors and is the first of the Pats three practices in their playoff bye week.
