Rob Gronkowski expected to play against Dolphins

A source close to CSNNE’s Tom Curran is reporting that New England Patriots star tight end is expected to play today against the Miami Dolphins “in at least a limited role”. This would fall in line with the Patriots plan to rest Gronkowski until the regular season finale, and only play him in a limited role as simply a warm-up for the postseason.

I hope Gronk is held to a limited role, but I know he will try to play as much as he can if the game is close. The thing of paramount importance is his health when heading into the playoffs, because the games against the San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars show that the Patriots need Gronk. He takes so much pressure off of the other receivers, otherwise defenses can key in on Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker and almost completely negate one of them from the game.

Another report from another extremely reliable insider, Ian Rapport, basically said the same thing regarding Gronkowski’s status for this game.

We should expect to see the star TE back on the field after missing more than a month of action due to a broken forearm, but I hope we don’t see him being used too much. This should be just a quick game for him to shake off the rust and get ready to dominate when it really matters.
