Finally, New England Patriots fans have some good news on the injury front, but it’s nothing more than what we expected. Rob Gronkowski has been consistently listed questionable on the injury report with a hip injury, but the superstar TE has never missed a game this season. Pro Football Talk has confirmed that Gronkowski will play against the Buffalo Bills.
What makes this noteworthy is the reports from both Adam Schefter and Albert Breer that Aaron Hernandez will not be playing today. Schefter first reported yesterday that Hernandez was not expected to play, while Breer went on the NFL Network and said that the Pats star TE will not play despite putting in three practice sessions this week. This will be the fifth game that Hernandez will miss this season due to an ankle injury.
Gronkowski is set for a huge day against the Bills, because they cannot contain his explosiveness and allowed him to tear it up in Week 4 when these two teams first played. Gronk has gotten over the dropsies to start the season, and I think he’ll have the best game of any TE this week. Even with Visanthe Shiancoe being activated, Gronk is going to get an insane amount of targets against a secondary that is severely limited due to injuries at the cornerback position. CBs don’t cover Gronk, but that has a trickle-down effect to the safeties and linebackers.
