The Buffalo Bills will almost certainly be facing Aaron Hernandez, because the New England Patriots star tight end has practiced for the third straight day this week after missing the team’s first practice on Tuesday. Not only was his daughter born, but that was a heavy, full-pads practice. I doubt the Patriots would have wanted Hernandez to rush back into that one to start the week.
Hernandez has had some quality time to rest after he had a setback on his sprained ankle after the victory against the New York Jets. It was a somewhat surprising event, but the Patriots didn’t miss a beat on offense without him against the St. Louis Rams. However, it is much better to have him back and we’ll be expecting another solid game from him against a weak Buffalo Bills back seven.
Brandon Bolden will almost certainly not play against the Bills, because he still isn’t practicing and is about to be out for the third straight game. I think that’s more of a situation in which the Patriots don’t want to rush a rookie RB back from a knee injury, given the surplus at the position. Bolden has certainly been making progress and isn’t wearing crutches anymore, but there’s no sense in rushing him back.
He did have a huge week the first time he faced Buffalo when he exploded onto the scene, but the Patriots don’t need him for this game. The Bills run defense is in shambles after a hot start to the year, and it seems like the wheels fell apart for them when the Patriots- mainly Bolden- ran it all over them.
Trevor Scott and Tracy White also did not practice.
