The New England Patriots have added star defensive tackle Vince Wilfork to the injury report, and he is currently listed probable with an illness that has reportedly been going around in the Patriots locker room recently. This means that there are two players in tomorrow’s game who will be listed probable with an illness, as St. Louis Rams wide receiver Brandon Gibson is the other key player on the I.R. with some type of a sickness.
Wilfork will most likely play on Sunday, and the Patriots will definitely need him in order to help stop tough RB Steven Jackson and his elusive backup Daryl Richardson.
The Miami Dolphins have received some good news today, as their star defensive tackle Randy Starks is expected to play today. He missed one practice this week due to “personal reasons”, and this is just confirmation that he will be good to go on Sunday against the rival New York Jets. Starks was able to return to practice anyway.
This means that the Jets will continue to find it difficult to run the football against their second straight AFC East opponent, because the Dolphins have one of the best run defenses in the league. They are anchored by Starks, linebacker Koa Misi (he has made a flawless transition to the 4-3), and veteran Paul Soliai. Shonn Greene isn’t in for a good day.
An interesting tidbit related to Vince Wilfork and the New England Patriots from The Boston Herald, “The Patriots could still promote one player from the practice squad, assuming any of them traveled, and add one more to the inactive list.”
