The St. Louis Rams have listed star wide receiver Danny Amendola on the injury report as questionable, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Amendola injured his clavicle in Week 5 on Thursday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals. He was able to catch 32 passes for 395 yards before being injured.
Despite the questionable tag, I doubt Amendola is able to play on Sunday. He was expected to miss a minimum of six weeks when the injury occurred, and he would still be significantly ahead of schedule if he returned in Week 10 after the Rams Week 9 bye week. But it wouldn’t be surprising to see him play, because Amendola is a very tough, determined player. I’ll always remember the clip of him throwing his helmet in the locker room after leaving the game.
If he was able to play, Danny Amendola would obviously cause the Patriots secondary some big issues. This is especially true with the news of the loss of Patrick Chung for the second straight week, and the uncertainty surrounding the health of cornerback Ras-I Dowling. That would mean a continued high role for Kyle Arrington at corner if Dowling misses the Week 8 contest in London.
Wayne Hunter and Mario Haggan are two key players on the Rams listed questionable on the injury report, while rising receiver Brandon Gibson is probable with an illness. Gibson has really come strong and has emerged as a legitimate target for Sam Bradford in the absence of Amendola, so he will definitely be a player the Pats will need to key in on.
