Wide receivers Wes Welker and Julian Edelman are listed questionable for the New England Patriots Week 7 encounter with the rival New York Jets. Welker continues to be listed on the injury report with an ankle injury, as Bill Belichick continues to play mind games with opponents when formulating the injury report.
Welker, who was listed questionable last week, went off against the Seattle Seahawks to the tune of 10 receptions for 138 yards and was clearly the team’s top offensive player in the game. Heck, he’s been the Patriots best player on offense all season with 48 catches and 622 yards.
Meanwhile, Edelman has been out since the first-half of the 31-30 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3, after injuring his hand on a touchdown reception. He likely broke his hand, and this would be fourth missed game in a row for Edelman. He’s been listed questionable for the past couple of weeks, and each week that he doesn’t play gives some optimism that he will.
The Jets secondary is a weak one without Darrelle Revis, and Edelman could provide some value for the Pats even with guys like Welker and Aaron Hernandez most likely in line for huge pass-catching days. The Pats don’t feel any rush to bring back Edelman with the way the other receivers have performed.
