Two key pass-catchers are not practicing today for the New England Patriots, as both Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman are out during the first practice of the week leading up to a date with the Denver Broncos.
Edelman injured his hand against the Baltimore Ravens in the first-half of Week 3’s game, and he was unable to play against the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, Rob Gronkowski was listed questionable for last week’s game against the Bills with a hip injury, but he was his explosive self and was likely listed on the injury report by the Pats to help Bill Belichick throw off the Bills.
Gronk is likely getting the day off after bouncing back from a fumble and a few drops to post over 100 yards of receiving in a game that showcased his big-play ability. The Pats will need him to be at his best to take full advantage of the Broncos safeties and linebackers who are poor in coverage.
The fact that Edelman is not practicing today greatly increases the likelihood of him suffering from a broken hand, which is bad news indeed for the Pats. If that’s what he is suffering from, then New England will be without him against the Broncos solid three-deep at the cornerback position on Sunday.
