New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman injured his hand in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, and he was held out of practice yesterday. Edelman isn’t practicing today either, which casts a huge shadow of doubt over his availability for Week 4’s game against the Buffalo Bills. In fact, signs are pointing to him being out on Sunday.
Edelman caught four passes for 28 yards against Baltimore, but left the game after catching an 11-yard touchdown pass. He was able to catch passes from Ryan Mallett on the sideline and played a big role for the Pats in that game before being taken out.
Last week, Wes Welker had a huge game with eight catches for 142 yards to lead the Pats offense. Look for him to keep on receiving a high amount of targets (ten against the Ravens), especially if Edelman is ruled out for Sunday. We’ll see if he can practice tomorrow, because the Patriots will miss him now that Kellen Winslow Jr. has been released by the team after requesting a release.
Bill Belichick was in “wait and see” mode on Tuesday, and we’ll see how much waiting it will take before we receive some more news on Edelman’s status for the AFC East opener against the Buffalo Bills.
