The New England Patriots have listed their initial injury report for Week 3, and there are several key players who are listed as questionable, with strong safety Patrick Chung being classified as “probable”.
CB Alfonzo Dennard, DT Brandon Deaderick, RB Shane Vereen, RG Dan Connolly, WR Brandon Lloyd, RT Sebastian Vollmer, TE Daniel Fells, CB Sterling Moore, LG Logan Mankins, and G/C Nick McDonald have all been listed as questionable,
Dennard, Fells, McDonald, and Deaderick are all less important players who have been unsurprisingly listed on the injury report. I will briefly run through the other players listed as questionable.
Vereen- He has missed the first two games of the season with a foot injury that he sustained in the second preseason game, and the injury Vereen is suffering from has been far too slow to heal.
Connolly- Donald Thomas was surprisingly solid against Darnell Dockett on Sunday, so the Patriots will feel more confident if Connolly has to miss his second straight game with a concussion. He may be limited, but I doubt he misses the game.
Vollmer- He’s been listed questionable through the first three weeks of the season, and I expect the Pats to steadily increase his snap count as he improves his health, but they will still limit him. Vollmer has looked great when playing, but the team can ill-afford to have him out for a chunk of time.
Moore- He played over Ras-I Dowling in the nickel last week, and it’s interesting to see him listed as questionable.
Lloyd- I thought Lloyd was simply being rested, but it looks like he is truly dealing with an injury significant enough to warrant him being labeled as questionable. Still, I would be surprised if he doesn’t play Sunday.
Mankins- This is something of a surprise, but Mankins has been limited in practice due to a hip injury. He’s one of the toughest players in the league, so I expect him to play Sunday despite rumors floating around that he won’t.
