According to a source close to the Boston Herald, the Washington Redskins have signed former New England Patriots fullback Eric Kettani to their practice squad. The Herald notes that Kettani joined the Navy partially due to the 9/11 attacks, and the coincidental signing by the team in our nation’s capital on this 11-year anniversary of the attacks.
Kettani is a solid blocker but was not able to earn a spot on the Pats 53-man roster. The team did place him on the practice squad, but he was released after the Patriots signed another fullback to the practice squad in James Develin.
Kettani received an early release from the Navy in April, and his service to our nation delayed his football career. He was on the Pats practice squad last season before being recalled by the Navy, and the 25-year-old has now found a spot with the Redskins squad.
I hope he does well over there and establishes himself on the team, because he is an extremely hard working player which is evidenced by how he approaches his duty as a lead blocker. The Redskins also signed TE/LS Justin Snow, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts, per Mike Garafolo.
I would like to take the time to remember the victims and the families of the victims on this anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and I would also like to thank the individuals in our armed forces who fight for our freedom, as well as our veterans. This includes Kettani, and it’s great to see that he has found work for another team this quickly.
