New England Patriots place Will Allen on injured reserve

The New England Patriots have placed a few players on the injured reserve, including veteran defensive back Will Allen who has the versatility to play at either cornerback or safety. He suffered an undisclosed injury in Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and some are speculating that Allen will retire after being placed on the injured reserve for the second time in three seasons.

Other Patriots were placed on the PUP list, such as left tackle Markus Zusevics, who was a UDFA pickup out of Iowa. That’s no surprise there, as he and Jake Ballard were always considered “locks” for the PUP. Zusevics is eligible to play in Week 7.

Another Patriot who was placed on the PUP list is defensive tackle Myron Pryor, with that coming as a surprise (sarcasm) as well. Pryor, however, was placed on the IR last year so he’s probably not going to play early on after being eligible to play.

Fullback Spencer Larsen was placed on the injured reserve after once having a shot at making the roster due to his versatility. Unless if the Patriots decide to keep Eric Kettani, it looks like they might roll without an FB next season. Safety Josh Barrett was one of the Patriots first cuts in the 75-man shave-down and was also placed on the IR.
