FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — When the New England Patriots sought to add receivers through free agency, the reinforcements they found looked very familiar.

FOXBOROUGH — When linebacker Brandon Spikes is in the middle of the field for the Patriots, his reputation as a thumper grows.

FOXBOROUGH — The injuries kept coming, one by one, a seemingly never-ending stream of maladies for safety Josh Barrett.

Robert Kraft has scored himself a “Bourne” beauty.

FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots are inching closer and closer to having a positionless front seven. Designated linebackers are playing defensive end, ends are playing tackle, and the team’s nose tackle doesn’t mind peeking outside either.
