The deadline passed today and a few players reached long term deals with their teams. Matt Forte, Ray Rice and Josh Scobee all gained security by signing long-term contracts. One player that did not get a long-term deal done, Wes Welker. Welker will play out this season under the franchise tag of around $9.5 million and will become a free agent at the end of the season. The two sides are not allowed to negotiate again until the end of the season. Welker will be one of the most coveted receivers at the end of the year.
