Well, it’s official. The first member of the Patriots very deep wide receiver core has been cut; Anthony Gonzalez. Not to brag, but I predicted he wouldn’t make the team back when the Patriots first signed him! With him gone, the Patriots still have Branch, Ochocinco, Welker, Edelman, Lloyd, Slater, Stallworth, and Gaffney. It will be interesting to see who will be the next one to get the ax. I’m going to say it will likely be either Matthew Slater or Donte’ Stallworth. I never thought Slater had great chemistry with Tom Brady. Stallworth, while a good receiver, may be the least talented out of the remaining WRs. Many assume Ochocinco will be the next to go, but he has close ties with Coach Bellichick and could be a valuable asset if he decides to put in the work. Only time will tell!
