On Sunday, Markus Zusevics, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Iowa, signed with the New England Patriots.
After tearing his pectoral muscle at the NFL Combine, Markus saw his draft stock drop dramatically. He went from a potential fourth round pick to becoming and undrafted free agent. This is where the New England Patriots stepped in. With the loss of Matt Light to retirement, and release of Rich Ohmberger, the Patriots need to add more depth the the offensive line. Getting South Florida OL Jeremiah Warren was a start, but signing the OL out of Iowa was always a possibility. After the injury, Coach Belichick and the New England Patriots jumped at the chance to add Zuzevics to the roster.
The injury has the potential to sideline Zuzevics for most of the off-season, but Coach Belichick was impressed with his efforts at Iowa and is willing to play the waiting game. You can read more about Markus Zuzevics below.
