It’s almost here folks! Tomorrow afternoon the official 2012 NFL Schedule is set to be released.
With the list of opponents for the 2012 season already in the books, it’s interesting to note that, even though the New England Patriots were in the Superbowl last year, our 2012 strength of schedule lists us as 32. Thats right folks, dead freakin last.
Why the NFL would decide to give Tom Brady & crew a seemingly easy road to the postseason might seem a little strange to some, but when you take a closer look, it starts to make more sense. This season the AFC East faces the AFC South & NFC West. Both divisions have some serious contenders at the top (49ers in the West & Texans in the South) but have a significant drop in their level of competitiveness after that.
The four playoff teams we face (Niners, Texans, Ravens & Broncos) aren’t going to be enough to offset the weaker, though SIGNIFICANTLY improved, AFC East.
I expect to see the Jets, Broncos & Ravens all to be listed in prime time on either Sunday or Monday night. We may end up with 3 more national broadcasts (our game in London vs the Rams, the second Jets game & the first matchup with the Bills) but I wouldn’t expect much more than that. There’s just not enough glamour in the remaining teams.
Thoughts? Check back tomorrow and see if I was right! Happy Patriots Day!!
