Tomlinson: Pats’ Defense Good Enough to Make a Run

Earlier today, Musket Fire’s Ryan Hannable wrote about how the Patriots’ defense stepped up in Saturday night’s divisional playoff game. Yesterday on Sunday NFL Countdown, New York Jets RB LaDanian Tomlinson shared his thoughts on the Patriots’ offense and the defense’s ability to make a run to the Super Bowl (video HERE). Tomlinson has a good perspective on the Pats’ defense having faced them twice in the regular season. So, Mr. Tomlinson, can the Patriots make a run with their defense?

I think so,” Tomlinson said. “They make the plays they need to make. Third down, they get off the field at times, and that’s key to any football game; getting off the field on third downs. I think they absolutely can make a run with this defense.”

After Saturday night’s performance, there should only be room for optimism. Patriots fans are certainly hoping for another strong performance Sunday in the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.
