After suffering a leg injury in Saturday’s win over the Dolphins, the Boston Herald’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that guard Logan Mankins sprained his MCL, which will keep him out Sunday, but he hopes to return for the playoffs. The injury will not require surgery, and he can thank the knee brace he was wearing for that.
Mankins has never missed a game in his NFL career, so Sunday’s will be his first. The Patriots getting a first-round bye was clearly very important as if they didn’t it would be unlikely that Mankins would be able to play in the first playoff game.
An offensive line, that has played very well this season, is now a bit thin as tackle Matt Light missed Saturday’s game with an injury he suffered during warmups. The Patriots really need their offensive line to be healthy and fully intact come playoff time because they are the ones protecting Tom Brady and are vital to his success.
