The Patriots could have clinched the AFC East today with a win or a Jets loss, and they got both of them. This is the team’s third straight division title, and ninth since Bill Belichick began his tenure in 2000. At 11-3, the Patriots are in position to have a shot at the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs. Houston lost earlier to today to the Panthers, dropping their record to 10-4. The Ravens (10-3) are playing the Chargers tonight out in San Diego and the Steelers (10-3) are playing the 49ers Monday night. If the Ravens and Steelers lose their respective games, the Pats will possess the best record in the AFC, and will simply (or not so simply) have to win their remaining games to clinch the top seed.
The Pats’ remaining games are at home against the Miami Dolphins (Dec. 24) and the Buffalo Bills (Jan. 1). Can the Pats seal the deal at home?
