The Patriots have ruled out five players thus far for tomorrow’s game: Patrick Chung, Brandon Spikes, Shane Vereen, and Sebastian Vollmer. Spikes has been limited in practice, so he had a shot at playing, but it appears he’s not there yet. Chung had also been practicing the last couple of weeks but then missed practice this past week, indicating he may have suffered a setback in his rehabilitation of his foot injury. Branch didn’t finish last Sunday’s game against the Redskins due to a groin injury and apparently isn’t healed enough to play tomorrow. Branch’s absence will force more contributions from Chad Ochocinco, Julien Edelman, and Tiquan Underwood.
After DB Malcolm Williams was released earlier in the week, Bill Belichick hinted that someone would take his roster spot that Belichick felt could contribute more. That player is Ross Ventrone, the on-again-off-again safety for the team.
