Brady's mentor says Patriots QB "holding back in beginning of games"

Longtime mentor of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Tom Martinez, offered some insight on the Patriots’ quarterbacks playing this season. Brady and the Patriots offense have struggled in the beginning of games, most recently on Monday night against Kansas City. The Patriots offense netted only a total of 24 yards on their first four possessions Monday night.

Martinez says the Patriots quarterback is “holding back”, speaking to the Boston Herald.

“I think it (takes) him a while to get warmed up. He’s kind of holding back a little bit on some of the throws,” Martinez told the Boston Herald.

It has also been rumored that Brady has been playing through a minor elbow injury. Martinez wouldn’t talk much about the injury, but did say any injury will not hold the Patriots quarterback back.

“Obviously, the pain is affecting some of his throws,” Martinez said. “… He’s such a warrior, he doesn’t allow the pain to distract him from doing what he has to do.”

Be sure to check out the CBS pre-game show later on today which features a special on Brady and Martinez’ relationship has Martinez has battled health problems related to diabetes.
