Patriots Win Super Bowl in SI Midseason Projection

Sports Illustrated senior writer Damon Hack put out his playoff race projections as of the midpoint of the NFL season in the latest Sports Illustrated. As you scroll down and see how the playoffs play out, you will find Hack projecting the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl. I’m not sure if this was put together before or after Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh. If it was before, I would be interested to see if his projection changes. In terms of seeding, Hack has the Patriots as the #2 seed in the AFC behind the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here’s how the Patriots’ playoff matchups unfold in Hack’s projection:

AFC Divisional Round

The Patriots defeat the Ravens (#5 seed).

AFC Championship Game

The Patriots defeat the Steelers.

Super Bowl XLVI

The Patriots defeat the Packers, 31-27.

I don’t know how confident Pats fans are that this scenario will play out, but it would be nice, no?
