Very rarely do you get consensus throughout the NFL media when it comes to Power Rankings, but there is a trend permeating the Week 2 power rankings: The Patriots are the second-best team in the NFL. They trail only the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in the major power rankings. Over at ESPN, bloggers Mike Sando and James Walker gave the Pats first-place votes while Joe Theismann and Pat Kirwan did the same over at NFL.com.
Here are Patriots snapshots from some of the more popular power rankings:
- NFL.com’s Power Ranking
- ESPN: Tom Brady is on pace for a 7,500-yard season, but he’ll likely only get to 5,000. (John Clayton)
- FoxSports: Tom Brady is playing with unbelievable efficiency combined with just the right amount of explosive plays. Tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez form the best inside threat in the game, but the defense is becoming a concern. (Brian Billick)
- CBS Sports: Can anybody stop Brady? He will take down all the records at this rate. Get ready for a shootout in Buffalo. (Pete Prisco)
