Two Gronks Are Better Than One

The New England Patriots continued their roster shuffle today by officially signing TE Dan Gronkowski, brother of TE Rob Gronkowski, who worked out with the team yesterday. Rob Gronkowski was already a pretty intense guy, and now adding another Gronk to the mix should make for an interesting locker room dynamic. To make room for Dan Gronkowski, the Patriots released veteran DL Gerard Warren. I’m a little surprised with the release of Warren because he played well last season and continued that into the preseason. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him return at some point if he does not sign elsewhere.

Here’s what Bill Belichick had to say about Dan Gronkowski’s fit with the Patriots:

“Dan has done a good job in Detroit and last year out in Denver in [former Patriots offensive coordinator] Josh’s [McDaniels] offense. So it’s easy to see him doing some of the things that are similar to what we do. I feel like he’s a good addition to our team at that position, both offensively and he’s also had some playing time in the kicking game so hopefully he can help us there too.”
