With NFL teams cutting down their roster over the past weekend, and the continued tweaking that is done afterwards, NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi decided to make his own 53-man roster. This roster is what he considers to be a “dream team” roster, but what is interesting with this list is that he used each player’s base salary and had his team fit under the $121 million salary cap. Therefore, he couldn’t just throw together a fantasy football team with Tom Brady as his starter and Aaron Rodgers as his back-up (or vice-versa if you’re a Packers fan).
Four Patriots made Lombardi’s 53-man roster.
Here are the Pats that made it, along with whether he picked them as a starter and their base salary:
- QB Tom Brady, starter ($5,750,000 base salary)
- TE Rob Gronkowski, starter ($405,000 base salary)
- OT Sebastian Vollmer, backup ($510,000 base salary)
- CB Devin McCourty, starter ($450,000 base salary)
