Patriots Only Have Two Tight Ends on Roster

While the roster moves are far from over, at the present time, the Patriots only have two tight ends on their roster. They informed undrafted rookie TE Will Yeatman that he will be released. Couple that with the release reported earlier of fifth-round pick Lee Smith, and the Pats only have Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez on the roster, and Hernandez is more of a receiver than a tight end. With all of the multiple tight end sets the Pats run, I do not expect the roster to contain only two tight ends for very long.

Veteran Alge Crumpler, who was a captain last season but was released early in camp, could return. An interesting signing would be one of Gronkowski’s brothers, who were both released from their respective teams. Stay tuned for the complete list of moves (as of today) soon as we have passed the 6 p.m. deadline.
