Patriots Have Some Trade Bait

The New England Patriots have a deep roster, and with the first roster reductions coming Tuesday, it stands to reason that there could be some trade discussions between the team and the rest of the NFL. Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe has a story up listing eight players who could be on the trade block, according to NFL executives he spoke with. Among those listed are Brandon Meriweather, who could net the Patriots the best compensation, Darius Butler, Landen Cohen, Darryl Richard, Brandon Tate, Matthew Slater, Lee Smith, and Jonathon Wilhite. Whether these players are traded or not, there should be lots of roster activity as the Patriots and other teams have to cut 10 players. From there, teams will be parsing through the cut lists looking for guys who could come in and help their team, and count the Pats among those teams looking at the cut lists for help.
