In what has been a whirlwind day for Patriots fans, news of two more draft picks coming into the fold kind of slipped by. Third-round pick RB Stevan Ridley from LSU and seventh-round pick DB Malcolm Williams from TCU officially signed deals with the Patriots. Ridley could compete for carries in the Patriots’ crowded backfield, especially near the goal line. He’s seen more as a power back but will have to develop other parts of his game, like pass protection and pass catching, if he is going to stick in New England. Williams is a long shot to make the roster. There is little chance that he will crack the secondary rotation, so he’s going to have to excel playing special teams to get a roster spot. I wouldn’t rule out a spot on the practice squad for him if he doesn’t make the final roster cut.
