Last season, guard Logan Mankins was a restricted free agent due to the uncapped season rules and no new CBA. He was unhappy with the lack of progress towards a long-term deal and held out well into the season. This year’s a different story. With a new CBA in place and a franchise tender worth $10 million, Mankins will not hold out this season. Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) tweeted that Logan Mankins will sign his tender and report to camp on time.
Frank Bauer, Mankins’ agent, passed along the following:
“Early this morning, Logan spoke with Bill [Belichick] and both are very happy, happy to get started. Logan is looking forward to being with his teammates and coaches, with a fresh start.”
Logan Mankins and the Patriots now have until deadline date of Sept. 20 top reach a long-term deal. At least we have a “happy” Mankins in camp and ready to work.
