The NFL Lockout is Over: What it Means to This Patriots Fan

Finally! Football is back in the U.S.A., and I’m not talking about the kind where you have to run around and kick around ball into a net. I’m talking red-blooded American put-your-pads-and-helmet-on-and-slam-the other-guy type of football. The process has dragged out for months, and we’ve been delayed free agency while losing mini-camps and the Hall of Fame game. I’m pretty thankful that we will have the NFL to watch again this season, but here is a look at what the end of the lockout means to me:

  • No more “best of” or “top” lists for a loooooooong time.
  • Not having to say “DeMaurice Smith” ever again. (hopefully)
  • Not having to stare at a computer screen for extended periods of time trying to find/think of content to write about.
  • Less repeats of programming on NFL Network.
  • Getting caught up in the craziness and speculation of free agency.
  • Slamming my head against the wall at guys Belichick does and does not sign in free agency.
  • Being proven wrong about slamming my head against the wall at guys Belichick does and does not sign in free agency.
  • Spending some time at Patriot Place taking in training camp.
  • Spending some time eating sausage and mixed pepper sandwiches at Patriots training camp.
  • Tom Brady touchdown passes.
  • Devin McCourty interceptions.
  • Bill Belichick hoodies.
  • Sacks from the Patriots’ defense?
